Wind power in Medway
Making energy from renewable sources is a great way of reducing carbon emissions, but there are very few examples here in Medway.
Leading the way is a wind turbine in a garden near Rochester Airport that has been steadily generating low carbon electricity since August 2006.
The Proven WT6000 turbine has an 18 foot rotor diameter and can produce a maximum of 6400 watts at a wind speed of just 27 miles per hour.
