Look for the logos - Always look out for the energy logos when you're buying electrical equipment.  The EU energy label rates products from A (most efficienct and cheapest to run) to G. The label is shown on all fridges, washing machines, dishwashers, ovens and lightbulbs. 

The most efficient products also carry this Energy Saving recommended logo - guaranteeing that the product is the most energy efficient in its category and will cost less to run.
