Loads of solar powered chargers are now available on the market that can be used to charge mobile phones, portable games consoles, rechargeable batteries etc. 

They may seem quite expensive to buy, but will save money over the longer term - particularly if you use the device to charge batteries.  

As well as the energy that you'll save, think of all the used batteries that would have ended up in landfill sites.  Ordinary battery chargers do a great job, but your carbon-busting credentials will be boosted through using the power of the sun.
