Saying goodbye to standby
The little light in the corner of your television that stays lit when you have gone to bed means that the set is on standby and using power needlessly.
One TV left on standby in each house in Medway would mean a pointless emission of over 3,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide each year.
Across the UK a staggering £1 billion is wasted each year through standby, with around 12 items in each house on standby overnight. Make sure you switch off televisions, computer monitors and other items off at the switch when they are not in use.
