Pumping treated water around the country to our homes and businesses is one of the greatest hidden uses of energy. You won't be paying for this directly, but a proportion of your water bill will cover this cost. By using less water to flush your toilet you can help to reduce your household water consumption, which will save you money if you have a water meter installed.
Many toilets will flush just as effectively with less water. By putting water saving devices into your cisterns you can reduce the amount flushed away.
Each device fitted will save on average 3 litres of water (appoximately 33% of the cistern volume) every time a toilet is flushed. They are more effective in older cisterns, whih use 9 to 12 litres per flush. Cisterns made after 1993 are designed to use less water, although the devices are known to be highly effective in these smaller volume cisterns also. They can be adjusted in seconds to suit small volume cisterns or any cistern with an already poor flush performance.
