What do you leave on standby?
The little light in the corner of your television that stays lit when you aren't using it means that it is on standby and using power when it doesn't have to. It's not just TVs though. That's why, if we're not careful, standby can really add to the amount of energy we're using.
How the standby calculator works
This is a calculator to help you work out how much energy and money you are wasting by leaving things on standby.
When you go to use the calculator, have a look at the icons and check which ones you leave on standby. Click and drag them into the centre of the page. Type in how many hours you use this item for. The calculator will do the rest for you. It will work out how long each appliance is on standby by assuming that when it's not on, it is left on standby. Give it a go and see how much you could be saving.
